What’s Trending: Interior Design

Interior Design trends change depending on what is happening around us, including fashion, seasons and the economic climate. Inspiration may arouse from art movements, different cultures and lifestyle needs.

In 2021, having to spend more time in our homes and not having access to other things we enjoyed, made all of us change our perspective regarding personal space, primarily our homes.
People are leaning towards spaces that bring up different feelings, some may want statement pieces that give them joy and a sense of stepping out of their comfort zone and others may want a space that fills them with tranquility.
Let’s see some of the trends we think will be most popular throughout the year!

NATURE INCORPORATION

This is a continuing trend from 2020 to 2021. Seeing how the pandemic made us all aware of how important it is to take care of our mental health, this trend is all about bringing into our houses aspects of the outdoors that helps us stay connected to nature’s calm within our homes.

This trend has a great range of implementations such as natural fabrics, woods, plants and prints.

SUSTAINABLE DESIGN

Conscious consumerism is finally taking over how we live, sustainability is finally in the spotlight and not just a trend.
Sustainable design goes beyond decoration, it is about implementing smarter uses for pre-owned things and making the old new by putting it to use. It is also about being environmentally conscious by using eco-friendly materials, the use of reclaimed woods, recycled glass, or metals.

NUDES

This trend leans toward a modern, “less busy” and fresh approach. It involves earth tones but also, this trend may involve some more bold colors while still trying to keep a more muted scheme. It relies on texture to incorporate life into the space in order to maintain its color palette as neutral as possible to get that “clean/organized” feel. It is perfect for everyone attracted to the more monochrome end of the design spectrum.

This trend can be achieved by adding wooden cabinetry, pastels or gray accent walls or decorations, adding fabrics such as mohair, sheepskin or wool.

RICH COLORS & VELVETS

Do you want to set a mood while still making a space feel luxurious and unique? This trend fits you perfectly!

We’re seeing this trend in cushions, accent chairs and pieces. It gives the space the boldness that might be missing. The most common colors are rich emerald green, navy blues and hot pinks. Give your space its focal point by injecting color and luxury with the velvet texture.

VINTAGE

Vintage comes hand in hand with upcycling, this trend is taking over everywhere! With all the DIY´s everyone has the resources to give the old a new purpose or new look that fits better with how you want your space to look.

The best part is you can give anything you want your personal touch or change its theme completely!

Comfort, escapism inspiration, luxury touches and color through texture and accents: these will all be trending into 2022 as we continue to transform our homes into personal statement environments that bring us calm and happiness.
