When visiting Medellin people tend to stay in el Poblado or Laureles enjoying the city but, did you know it is surrounded by wonderful places to visit and spend an amazing evening or have a fun getaway?
Something residents often do on their days off is visit “El Oriente Antioqueño”, they visit towns near the city that have special places filled with nature, amazing ambiance and delicious food, such as the ones we show you in this article. They are located approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour away from the city. Some of them are La Ceja, El Retiro, San Jerónimo, Marinilla, Santa Elena, Guarne, Rionegro and more.
Just outside the city, near Indiana Mall, it’s located La Rufina. A very trendy space inspired by adventure, free spirit, and designed to have a good time with friends, pets while enjoying good music. They are a motorcycle workshop dedicated to customizing bikes but are also very well known for their restaurant, serving delicious food and having a great space to spend your mornings while having brunch or your evenings and nights with their amazing food and cocktails.
The space is planned out to be a country-style restaurant. In the main house, they have the kitchen, bar, and workshop. The rest of the place has small glass surrounded tables like cottages. They serve focaccia, burrata and traditional Neapolitan pizzas made with sourdough, puffed edges and a soft center that will truly blow your mind. They make sure to reach all of your senses by playing great music, a well-planned and decorated space, aromas that fill up the environment and amazing food to make sure you have the best experience.
The restaurant was restored making sure not to lose sight of the original structure and the town's tradition, they kept all of the original wood construction and the walls made from “Tapia” a material made of clay and piled and pressed sand.
